Reincarnation can occur in different places based on one’s desires. Yogānanda claimed a past life as William the Conqueror. Sleeping right after eating is considered tāmasika. Light food or drink is acceptable if needed before āsana or sleep. Higher consciousness includes the lower; at the highest level, there is only oneness, no duality or question of identity.
